AKURU LANGUAGE ACADEMY

Legal information

Cookie Policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on akuru.fr and pransha.akuru.fr.

1. Scope and controller

Both services are operated by Prasanna Deshapriya Jasinghege Don, trading as Akuru Language Academy. For questions about this policy, contact admin@akuru.fr.

2. What cookies and similar technologies are

A cookie is a small text file stored by a website in a visitor’s browser. Similar technologies, such as local storage, can save a preference directly in the browser without using a traditional cookie.

Some storage is strictly necessary to provide a feature requested by the visitor, remember a privacy choice, maintain a shopping cart or keep an authenticated session secure. Other storage, including Google Analytics cookies, is optional and is used only after consent.

3. Strictly necessary and preference storage

The following storage does not serve advertising purposes and is used without optional consent where the legal exemption for strictly necessary functionality applies.

akuru_consent

  • Type: first-party cookie.
  • Domain: .akuru.fr, so the same choice applies on akuru.fr and its subdomains, including pransha.akuru.fr.
  • Purpose: records whether Google Analytics has been accepted or refused and prevents the consent banner from appearing on every page.
  • Duration: six months. Both acceptance and refusal are stored for the same period.

pransha_theme

  • Type: browser local storage on Pransha Akuru.
  • Purpose: remembers the visitor’s light- or dark-mode preference.
  • Duration: until the visitor changes the preference or clears browser storage.

This preference is not used to track visits between websites.

Checkout and shopping-cart storage

When the WordPress/WooCommerce checkout is used, strictly necessary cookies may include:

  • woocommerce_cart_hash and woocommerce_items_in_cart: session cookies used to detect changes to the cart;
  • wp_woocommerce_session_*: normally retained for two days and used to locate the visitor’s cart data;
  • woocommerce_recently_viewed and store_notice*: session cookies, but only where the corresponding optional WooCommerce feature is enabled; and
  • WordPress authentication or security cookies when an account login is used.

These cookies are activated only when the relevant checkout, cart, account or security feature is used. They are not used for behavioural advertising.

Academy authentication

The Academy is unavailable at the current public launch, and its login interface does not create an Academy authentication session. Before Academy login is restored, this policy and the active-cookie inventory must be checked and updated with the exact authentication and session identifiers then in use.

4. Google Analytics

With the visitor’s prior consent, we use Google Analytics 4, supplied by Google, to understand aggregate website use and improve content and performance.

Google Analytics may set:

  • _ga: distinguishes browsers or visitors for audience measurement; and
  • _ga_*: maintains the state of an Analytics session.

The Analytics configuration used on these sites does not load Google Analytics before consent; denies advertising storage, advertising user data and advertising personalisation; disables Google Signals and advertising-personalisation signals; limits Analytics-cookie lifetime to a maximum of approximately thirteen months from the initial setting; and prevents the expiration date from being renewed automatically on each page load.

Refusing Analytics does not prevent access to the public websites or purchase of a course.

5. Giving, refusing or withdrawing consent

The consent banner provides “Accept all” and “Refuse all” controls with equivalent prominence and a separate customisation option. Continuing to browse without accepting does not constitute consent.

The visitor can change or withdraw a choice at any time using Cookie settings in the footer. Withdrawing consent stops future Analytics loading and attempts to remove accessible _ga cookies from the Akuru domains. Browser settings may also be used to inspect or delete stored information.

6. External services and links

The websites contain links to services such as Skool, Zoom, Substack, YouTube and social-media platforms. Merely displaying a normal external link does not allow that service to set a cookie through our page. If a visitor follows the link or uses the third-party service, that provider may use its own cookies or similar technologies under its own policy.

Any future embedded video, map, social-media widget or other third-party content that requires consent must remain blocked until the visitor makes the required choice.

7. Server logs

Technical server logs processed by HostGator are not browser cookies. Their processing is described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the websites, checkout, Academy or service providers change. The latest version and update date will appear on this page.

Questions may be sent to admin@akuru.fr.
